Matthew 5:14-16 “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

What is it that you show to the world? As the year begins, it is time to take stock of  who we are, who we want to be and how we are planning on getting there? When people met you, what is the first impression you give off? Elusive? Charming? Helpful? Do people see your inner light? We don’t need to walk around loudly praising God and calling attention to ourselves. While, some people may feel comfortable doing this; not everyone does.

However, we are part of the body, and as our physical body has parts; so does the spiritual body of Christ. While some may be called to be the mouth piece, others are called to be the hand or the heart or the lungs. We are each blessed with the ability to follow to the best of OUR ability. Just because we aren’t called to be a pastor, preacher or foreign ministry, doesn’t mean you don’t have a calling. Yours might be to help your next door neighbor, to be a caregiver or to plant a garden. God knows us best and He doesn’t expect us to do something that is not in our nature. Sometimes it is a job to simply be a light in the darkness so that others may know Him through our actions.

This year, make it a point to act in a way that others know who you are by your actions; not just your words. It is easy to tell someone else to do something; this year show by example.

Prayer for the week:

Father, we thank you that you have allowed us to see another year. We pray that this year, Your will will be done in our lives. That our actions will exemplify what you would have us to be. That others may know You through us. We thank you that you have given us each a talent that we can use for Your glory and benefit. Help us to develop that talent. Help us to grow in grace and mercy. We thank You for all that You have given us, now help us to give back to you. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen

Thought: Remember God knows both our strengths and our weaknesses. Where we are weak, He makes us strong.
